I saw Michelangelo’s original painting, “Doni Tondo,” a year or so ago and knew I had to do it one day. It was a big undertaking to say the least. Done in all wax which cannot be blended except on the surface with a hot stylus. I also incorporated the frame because Michelangelo carved it himself. This is the only painting that Michelangelo did that is freestanding. I have always been a big fan of his because his artistic style is more stylized like mine. Doing these remarkable Master’s paintings in wax has been an eye opener for me and no matter what anyone says I will keep on doing what I love. 40” wax on wood
