“Poseidon, God of the Sea”

Inspiration & Technique

Using a drawing, I started with 75 pounds of water based clay. I created the bust, hollowed it out, then put it back together and added all of the detail. I let it dry for almost two months, then fired it to 1900 degrees, sanded each and every part, then added water down acrylics and polishes.

Poseidon, the God of Sea, is said to create hurricanes and flooding. For this reason, I wanted him to look tough. I put embedded his Trident in his chest. His body, hair, and beard are made up crustaceans, coral, and seaweed.
