“The Man in the Red Turban”

Inspiration & Technique

“The Man in the Red Turban” encaustic (wax) piece with oil background. The original was done by Jan Van Eyck in 1433. I’ve always been drawn to this painting since I was a little kid. Something about the bright red turban and the look in his eyes. I even tried to create stubble in wax which is very difficult to do since white wax melts into the color by it but I figured it out.
